Koko K Kylie Lip Kit- Is It Really Worth the Hype?
Kylie Cosmetics is a controversial brand that people either love or hate. What side am I on?
I really don’t think that all of her products are worth the huge hype that they get on social media, but I understand that they do because she’s so famous.
After several months of contemplation and consideration, I finally decided to make the leap and spend the $30 to purchase one of her matte liquid lipsticks. I purchase Koko K here.
Now, let me tell you. I just spent $30 on a lip kit that I had super high hopes for. I’m going to criticize high-end product that costs $30 way harsher than I would a lip kit that costs $6. If I’m spending more money on a product, I expect the product to be way better quality than a cheaper option.
Here’s what I think about the Kylie Lip Kit in Koko K.
I think Koko K is a gorgeous shade. I personally saved this shade for spring time, as it appears to be a brighter color on my lips. The actual lipstick itself is a bright-ish mauve, while as the lip pencil is a darker mauve. Personally, I prefer the shade of the lip pencil. It’s such a gorgeous color.
But color isn’t everything when it comes to lipstick.
I found that the formula for the liquid lip dried really fast.
However, I do find that it is tacky after it dries, even after an hour or two of wear.
The applicator is just your typical dough foot applicator, which isn’t anything too special. Oh well.
Due to the tackiness of the formula, I do feel like it comes off kind of easy. I can drink a bottle of water and see a little ring of pink where my lips were on the top of the bottle. It definitely isn’t burger proof or pizza proof.
I also was super disappointed in the pencil. I LOVE the color of the pencil. However, it breaks super easy. I take really good care of my products; I don’t drop my makeup and I store it away in a safe little spot.
Every time I pull out my lip kit, I have to re-sharpen my pencil. Which may not seem like a big deal, but in the end, I paid $15 for a lip pencil that I have to re-sharpen after every use, because it’s so fragile. That doesn’t make me super happy.
I’m still trying to figure out if I want to purchase more of her kits. I love the color of the pencil in the Koko K Kit, but I’m not super in love with the shade of the liquid lipstick. What is a girl to do?
Personally, I think if you’re looking to purchase yourself a quality liquid lipstick, I’m going to say what everybody else says.
GO WITH COLOURPOP.
