Today marks the end of the war against your body. Today, you are going to slowly start to love yourself. Even if it’s for the first time, I promise you that it’s worth it.
It is so incredibly important to be comfortable and happy in your own skin. It’s one of those things that is too often overlooked in life. At a young age, we are taught how to take proper care of our teeth and that it’s important to shower daily. Why weren’t we taught the importance of mental hygiene? Why weren’t we taught that while it’s important to take care of our bodies, that it’s equally important to love them?
Now that we are older, we all realize the importance behind self-love. There is one thing you need to realize: nobody has a ‘normal’ body. Photoshop has been a bigger influence on impressionable minds than most would like to admit. Who knows, maybe you have been one of those impressionable minds that fell victim to the media making you feel unworthy.
I’m not saying it’s going to be easy. It’s going to be one hell of a difficult journey; you’re going to have your good days and your bad days. And when you’re having a bad day, just rememebr this:
No matter what height,
what size clothing you are,
your skin color,
or where you’ve come from,
you are a beautiful, precious human being who IS worthy of love and a quality life.
Find something you can do every day to make you feel good about yourself. I love applying an extra coat of mascara; it makes me feel extra sassy and ready to take on the world. What do you do to feel better about yourself? Do you have any tips on how you’ve begun to love yourself?
