6 Best Drugstore Foundations for Oily Skin That Have Insane Staying Power
Ah, the drugstore. There’s no place on earth like it- all of the convenience a person could need is wrapped up into a little corner store. Foundations, cough syrup, diapers, chips, tampons, jewelry. It’s like a little WalMart is packaged up into each and every drugstore.
But, who cares about that? I only go to the drugstore to look at the makeup. Over Walgreens, I prefer RiteAid. Partially because it’s two minutes from my house, but also because there’s so much better of a selection, plus I get a discount with my rewards card!
Before I knew anything about makeup, I assumed all foundations are the same.
BOY WAS I WRONG.
I literally knew nothing about foundation- I assumed that it didn’t really matter what shade you picked. Back then, I didn’t even know what the difference was between matte foundation and illuminating foundation. Undertones, coverage, wearability. . . yeah, I didn’t know anything about that. The more that I discovered my passion for makeup, the more that I realized how difficult it was to find an affordable drugstore foundation that had the following:
- It was full coverage
- It wasn’t heavy feeling on my skin
- Didn’t leave me greasy after about three hours
- Was affordable
- And lasted more than a week
Boy, oh boy, did I struggle. It honestly felt like I wasted a million dollars trying to find foundations at the drugstore that did what I want them to (although it was probably less than $50 that I wasted).
Here I am today, here to save you from that painfully long trial and error process.
What are your favorite foundations?
Personally, my favorite drugstore foundation is Rimmel’s Stay Matte foundation. I also pair it with the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer. The foundation itself costs $4.99 (in Maryland, not including sales tax). It has AMAZING coverage and it the ONLY foundation that I have found that actually stays on my face for eight hours and longer.
My face is super duper oily, and I tend to touch my face a lot. By the end of the day, most of my foundations are completely off of my face. The Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation stayed on; it stayed on so much, that I took my makeup remover to wash my face and I still looked like I had medium coverage on.
